“Against & For” strategies of SAD with BJP in Punjab & Haryana not digestible

Cold War is set to hit the ‘Trust & Alliance’ in favour of BJP
With the victory of BJP in Haryana – adjoining state of Punjab – where SAD having alliance with BJP in Punjab has supported Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) – led by Om Parkash Chautala presently in jail – against BJP.
Two strategies with the alliance party in Punjab – “Against and For “ -have not been digested by the BJP and the coalition is under severe strain.
Chautala was sent to jail on 16 January 2013, Om Prakash Chautala and Ajay Chautala after a New Delhi court sentenced them to ten years imprisonment under various provisions of the IPC and the Prevention of Corruption Act.
Supporting the party, already sentenced by the court, is not digestible to anyone especially when the tall claims of clean, transparent and accountable governance are being made by the party high commands in their manifestoes.
BJP is secretly planning to disassociate itself from alliance with SAD after grand victory of BJP in forming the government at the centre. Certainly the morale of BJP workers in Punjab is very high after the formation of Modi government and it is likely to affect the coming municipal elections in the state.
Even Shanta Kumar had asked the SAD to introspect rather rethink its strategy when Akalis had worked against BJP during the parliamentary polls and then during the Haryana Assembly polls. SAD’s experiement of having collation with other parties had failed to bring any harm to the BJP. In fact, BJP has emerged stronger despite its Opposition.
Former MP Navjot Singh from Amritsar, during the Haryana Campaign, had been seen outspoken, as usual, clearly labeling the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) party of “backstabbers”.
Both SAD and BJP are claiming of having no chances of break of its alliance, but likely to seek a lion’s share in running the government. At the same time, BJP is likely to ask for more assembly seats to contest. It had contested only 23 of the 117 seats in the last assembly polls.
There are also indications that BJP may contest 2010 Assembly polls in Punjab independently.
Frankly speaking, cold war is set to hit the trust and alliance in favour of BJP especially when Modi wave has shown commendable results informing the government at the centre and then in the Haryana and Maharashtra.
