Why ‘Election Years’ are ‘Development Years’?
Voters have now
become smart enough and started testing the half-truth of politicians with
logic's criterion.
Politics in
India take place within
the framework of its constitution, as India is a federal parliamentary democratic
republic in which the President of India is the head of state and
the Prime Minister of India is the head of government. India follows the dual
polity system, i.e. a double government which consists of the central authority
at the centre and states at the periphery.
Political philosophies may be divided
into two broad categories – limited task of determining and expansive task of
determining. In the existing set up, the politics and self-interest go side by
side or in other words, we can say, they have started strolling just like real
sisters. Vilification, back-biting,
blaming and self-praising have become their main signs in spite of the fact that
it was started with an aim of providing neat and clean and dexterous society.
The democracy is still developing with
discipline and moral values in the western developed countries that have given
birth to democracy. The law and
discipline gives life to democracy. This
is the reason that people try to look for the opportunities to settle in certain
such countries countable on fingers.
No doubt, with the growth of media and
with new social media technologies, the ruling and opposition party leaders are
seen debating on the electronic channels but the cultured language and
indiscipline could be seen openly as telling lie has become the birth right of
political leaders. It is a very bad
trend. The voter of today is also too
intelligent.
Politics and political self-interests are always busy
in lobbying lead to a host of lousy regulations with only one agenda of
maximizing votes, staying in office and increasing wealth.
Voters have now
become smart enough and started testing the half-truth of politicians with a
criterion of logics despite the poverty and illiteracy in a predominating
position, in our country. They always
look for the basis for comparison or a reference point against which other
things can be evaluated. Now a day, the
election campaigns are not a easy task like previously with false promises or
misleading. Even if the voters have
awaken after seven decades of independence and cropping up of new political
party – aam aadmi party – AAP with an aim to build a robust and extensive
organization in Punjab, is the glaring
example with specific reference of Punjab, giving four seats of Members of Parliament during the
last elections.
After a massive mandate in Delhi, Kejriwal looks for AAP's
victory in Punjab where the party had secured four Lok Sabha seats in 2014
General Elections. Aam Aadmi Party convener Arvind Kejriwal has began his poll
campaign in Punjab attacking both Akalis and Congress and asked people to
vote for AAP to end “corruption, drug abuse, farmer suicides” and put the state
back on “right track”.
At the same time, it has now become a talk of the town that
as to how these leaders have acquired huge wealth and properties within a short
span of life. Not only this, the recent increase in wages of the politicians
particularly the MPs, MLAs and Ministers have raised another debatable question
and shaken the common man, who is fed up from high inflation's.
It is not understood as to why there is
increase in their perks, when these politicians provided all infrastructure
including spacious houses, staff, red-beckon vehicles, handsome wages. It is a big question on the existing
system. At very nominal charges, the
food is available in the Parliament campus but one cannot have a place of ‘dal’
on the dhaba on the roadside even. This
is the reason that these leaders are not aware of the inflation going on in the
market.
Till such time, the leaders are not aware of the
problems at the ground levels, they cannot work for the welfare of the common
man. While the poor men are always
striving for days’ food whereas the leaders are worried in making schemes for
keeping safe the chairs. Since our country is full of religious and social
fairs and these political parties don’t even spare to give them political
colours. The political parties by
arranging the entertain stage at the religious functions, don’t bother to en-cash the circumstances.
The corruption charges on the
politicians have become a common feature but the demand of the situation is
that there should be a proper inquiry into the charges and till such time
enquiry is going on, he or she should be kept away from participation in the
politics. But, who bothers for such an advice?
The stereotype replies by these leaders are that only
the charges have been framed but it has not yet been established. Under this
shadow statement, he continues to enjoy the full term under the legal and
judicial procedural wrangles.
The leaders
of political parties have made the politics a game of chess as ingeniousness
and cleverness. For the first four years
after winning the election, they forget the common men and during the last
year, the word ‘development’ suddenly comes in their dictionary of their
lips. There is flood of installing
foundation stones and inaugurations and efforts made to create an atmosphere as
if government and common men are made for each other.
It is not for
the particular party but it is happening with all the ruling parties as people
have short and weak memories. They remember the current development works but
forget the previous promises as forgetting is the natural instinct of a
man. The political leaders don’t adopt
the development path during the previous years so that they may not forget at
the time of next elections and perhaps this is the reason the ‘election year’
is given the name of ‘development year’.
Frankly speaking, voters too are becoming
elegant and tidy. With the passage of
time, this trend of politicians is becoming out-dated now as the attitude of
the leaders - changing faces, loyalty and shrewdness – teaches so many things
to the people.
Really, if the leaders of the country
understanding the human and moral values and voice of truth and inner soul come
forward then there is no reason that the symptoms of social evils like poverty,
unemployment, corruption and breach of peace, could stand in the way of real
development of common man, society and nation as well.
