Will Congress win in HP elections?
The polling process for Himachal Pradesh will begin with the issue of gazette notification on October 16, 2017, as announced by the Chief Election Commissioner, A.K.Joti.
Elections are part of the democratic set-up of any country. India too is running its government under this set-up and elections are held from time to time in different states after the expiry of five years term.
The two-way system of governments at State and Centre levels are formed in our country.
The elections to Members of Parliament and Member of Legislative Assemblies are held separately and sometimes jointly depending upon the circumstances.
The next elections due are in Himachal Pradesh to be held on November 9, 2017, when all the 68 members of the HP legislative assembly will be elected and the leader of the largest party will become the next Chief Minister. In the event of short of the majority, the coalition government could also be formed.
The present term of Legislative Assembly ends on January 7, 2018, and since 2013, the Indian National Congress Party is in power with 36 seats. The lone opposition is the BJP –Bhartiya Janata Pary with 27 seats.The rest of the seats are divided amongst Himachal Lokhit Party, which had bagged 1 seat, and independent candidates.
In India, any citizen an over 18 years of age are allowed to vote in many states and union territories of India provided he or she is a resident of that state. India has a large Tibetan diaspora that fled from Tibet along with the Dalai Laa. Dharamshala a city in Himachal Pradesh is the capital of the Central Tibetan Administration –CTA. The government has allowed Tibetans born in India between 1950 to 1987 to vote in the elections. This, however, does not affect their relationship with the CTA

Frankly speaking, at this stage, it is difficult to say as to which party will form its government. But in case the adjoining state – Punjab’s impact could be there, the chances are there to repeat the government in HP too. The political leaders are still to open their cards and strategies with allegations and counter-allegations to warm-up the election campaign. The picture is likely to be cleared after the final withdrawal of candidatures on 26 Oct 2017 to form an opinion of the formation of the government. Let us see which way the wind blows.
While BJP has named all 68 candidates, Congress has announced 59, there are also 12 news faces by BJP and 3 Congress deserters make it too.
